Welcome to The Black Pearl Distillery
Founded in 2022 by Graham Patten, The Black Pearl Distillery is home to a portfolio of premium spirits, including the celebrated City of Liverpool Gin. With a passion for craftsmanship and character, our mission is to honour the essence of Liverpool—its people, history, and creative spirit—through every bottle we produce.
The City of Liverpool Gin was launched in 2025 as a tribute to the city’s rich cultural tapestry. From dockside grit to artistic flair, its flavour profile is inspired by the textures, tastes, and tales that define Liverpool’s legacy. This isn’t just gin; it’s the spirit of Liverpool, reimagined by The Black Pearl.
We are proudly twinned with City of Chester Gin, a brand rooted just across the River Mersey on the Wirral Peninsula. Together, our gins champion small-batch excellence, premium sourcing, and community-driven values.

I don’t just make spirits—I create experiences. Located in the heart of the Wirral Peninsula, my team and I bring together passion, innovation, and tradition to craft premium, handcrafted rums and spirits.
My journey started with a fascination for whiskey investments, but over time, I saw rum’s incredible potential. Inspired by the legacy of Captain McCoy and fueled by my own recovery from bowel cancer, The Black Pearl Distillery was born. After two years of research and development, we created unique products like our spiced apple rum and cigar rum.
